- S 1B: By-election one EGP Committee member

In accordance with article 6.4.7 of the Statutes, the EGP Committee is
organising a by-election for the upcoming 40th EGP Congress in Lisbon and is
hereby calling for candidates for the election of 1 further or regular Committee
member, for the remainder of the mandate until end 2027.
The adjusted deadlines will be presented for adoption in Lisbon on Friday
afternoon, just ahead of the first plenary moment.
Please find below the articles of our guidelines defining the roles and
responsibilities of the Committee members.
The EGP Committee (Statutes, Art. 6.4)
The Committee is the executive body of the European Green Party and is
responsible for its political and strategical development and functioning within
the budget and the guidelines approved by the Congress.
General tasks and responsibilities (Statutes, Art. 6.4.10 to 6.4.16, and
Rulebook articles 1-3)
The Committee is responsible for the political and strategic development of the
organisation, political representation, development and implementation of the
Activity Plan within the current European political reality. The Committee can
make political statements on behalf of the EGP and is politically responsible to
the Congress.
Every member of the Committee is expected:
- To regularly participate in Committee meetings
- To take on specific responsibilities within the approved activity plan
- To maintain relations with specific members on a very regular basis
- To politically represent the Committee
- To report back to the Committee from their political engagements
- As a consequence of the EGP’s Statutes’ reform and the Committee
enlargement, the full Committee will meet around 4 times a year for two-
day-meetings mainly held in Brussels. Moreover, Committee members’
physical presence will be required at Statutory meetings, such as
Congresses and Green Leadership Councils. Topical, shorter mostly online
meetings will be organised as needed.
- Depending on the division of responsibilities (partners, fact finding or
study visits, networks, working groups etc.), Committee members without a
specific function must allow for approximately 60 days a year for
Committee work.
ELECTION PROCEDURE (Statutes articles 6.4.17 to 6.4.23)
- Each candidate must be nominated by a FULL member party and
- Supported by at least two other FULL member parties.
- Each FULL member may nominate and support several candidates.
- All candidacies must be accompanied by a motivation letter (maximum one
page), a CV and picture of the candidate. It is also recommended to upload
a short introduction video (max 2 min).
- After creating a candidacy on motiontool, the nominating Member Parties
should reach out to other full members, who can add their SUPPORT at
thebottom of the candidacy page until the deadline:
- Copy and share the link of the candidacy page on motion tool to solicit
support from others.
- Specific contacts from full member parties can be provided upon request
to ann.verheyen@europeangreens.eu.
- Deadline: Candidacies and supports for the election of the one regular
Committee member must be submitted at the latest by Wednesday, 19 November
2025 (23:59, CET) via this link on MOTION TOOL.
- The list of all candidates will be shared the next day by email and on the
Lisbon motion tool.
In Lisbon, we have foreseen a plenary session on Friday evening for brief
presentations of all the candidates, with the opportunity for Q&A.
